celebrate your day

Welcome to my crafty blog. I’m delighted to have been invited to be the Guest Designer for AAA Cards‘ 200th challenge! It’s no surprise then that the theme for the new challenge is ‘celebrate’ and I resurrected another one of my older stamp sets (Stampin’ Up!’s ‘hello cupcake’) that had the perfect sentiment.

Having said that, I started with a newer set (artistically inked) and stamped the inky shape in light blue in the corner of a 6×6 card blank. I stamped it twice, reversing the upper one, to give me a shaded area.

I then created the cupcake using the stamps & dies, with SU’s ‘write on’ markers which I’ve discovered can be used to ink stamps up (a cheaper option than buying more ink pads!). I used ‘pineapple punch’ for the cake case & sponge layer, ‘polished pink’ for the icing, ‘coastal cabana’ for the heart and ‘fresh freesia’ for the flower. I also added some sparkly sprinkles onto the icing with the little stamp in the set and heat embossed them with WOW’s ‘tanzanite’ powder (although that doesn’t show up in the photo!). I glued the pieces together and then attached the cupcake to the card front.

The final touch was to add the sentiment in ‘watering can’ Archival Ink.

Nice and simple – and who doesn’t love a cupcake?! Come and join the party with us at AAA Cards – we’d love to see what you create.

I made a second card, which I stepped up a bit further with three cupcakes and a larger stamped background on a 5×7 card blank.

They could be for sharing (but not necessarily…!?) I am going to share them virtually, though, as Inspire Create challenges have also got ‘celebrate’ as their theme, and I took the colour palette from the current challenge over at Colour INKspiration on their Facebook page.
