Christmas mailbox at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown 26-39

Hello crafty friends and welcome to Seasonal Saturday. We’ve got a theme challenge this week at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and Valentina wants to see Christmas mailboxes (postboxes for us Brits!) on our cards. I remembered this fab little image from Linda’s Children Through the Seasons – Winter – she fits the bill perfectly!

I found a 5×5 piece of premium card in my stash that already had a frame embossed onto it – I think I did it while demoing at Clarity’s Open Days earlier this year using the Nested Square Embedders (the inner and outer edges of the embedders push the card in opposite directions, which gives you a raised frame). I simply stamped the girl posting her letter in black Archival.

Next was to add some colour with my Poychromo pencils. I extended the ground a little with a micron pen, then used a waterbrush and ‘broken china’ Distress Oxide to loosely colour in around the image.

Finally, I added one of the new sentiments from Barbara’s Christmas Animals collection, edged the topper with a black Pergacolour Pen (it gives a finer edge than a Sharpie) and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

So, have you got a postbox image in your crafty stash? Come on over to 52CCT and share it with us – we’d love to see what you create. Meanwhile I’m going to share this little lass in the gallery at Holly & Ivy challenge as well.

And there’s more exciting new to share, as Clarity have kicked off their Big Autumn Sale, which runs until Monday 26th October! You can get 50% off most of their stamps and other goodies (including this stamp set), plus more bargains on other products, so it’s a great time to go shopping!
