An autumn recipe at As You See It challenge #383

Hello everyone and welcome to Friday! We’ve got a new challenge for you at As You See It, where LeAnne’s given us an autumnal recipe to play with. For our recipe challenges, you need to include all the elements on your card – but how you do that is up to you! I decided to pull out the Autumn Build a Wreath stamps as the focal point, and went from there…

First, I cut a floral shaped ring with a couple of the Nested Funky Flower dies (element 1 of our recipe). I masked the centre with one of the Bubble masks (the moons were not quite the right size), then started my wreath by stamping two of the leafy images in ‘peeled paint’ and ‘crushed olive’ Distress Oxide (the stamp pens are perfect for this). I then filled out the leafy wreath with another stamp in ‘antique linen’, followed by small triple leaf in ‘barn door’.

I planted my little pumpkins (the second recipe element) between the leaves (obviously in ‘carved pumpkin’!), then added a few more sprigs in the ‘antique linen’. I wasn’t totally happy when I lifted the mask off (I’d wanted a nice white inner edge, but it didn’t look right), so I blended a little more of the ‘antique linen’ over it to soften the white.

Next was to sort my background. I produced a soft checked effect (recipe element 3) with the A5 Stripes stencil by laying it across a 5 inch square of premium card and brushing ‘antique linen’ through it, then rotating it through 90 degrees and brushing ‘peeled paint’. I ran a couple of lengths of twine across it (element 4), fixing them to the back and adding scrap card either side on the reverse so they ran through a channel. I could then add a mount of Toscana companion paper and attach it to a 6×6 card blank.

I added some foam pads to the back of my die cut and attached it to the card front, so it looked like it was held by the twine. My final recipe elements were some enamel dots I found in my stash and I finished with a word sticker mounted on a scrap of the Toscana paper.

Our recipes at AYSI always push me, as they don’t usually produce CAS cards! I rather like the rustic feel of this one though – what do you think? Check out the blog page where you’ll find more inspiration from the rest of the team, and then come and play along with us!

Unsurprisingly, there are a few other autumnal challenges around at the moment and I’m going to share this with Sunday Stamps, Make My Monday, the Four Seasons and We Love Stamping.
