Hello crafty friends. Here we are at Friday again and I’ve got our new challenge at As You See It to share with you. Joanne has given us this delightful recipe – the yellow tones are perfect for lovely summery cards. I opted to put the Doodleology Heart Elements set into action for this one – it hasn’t seen the light of day for some time (years, in fact!), but Barbara is showcasing this collection on today’s Clarity Social TV shows as part of the launch of the Half Price Members’ Sale! Now, the requirement for our recipe challenges is to incorporate all the elements onto your card or crafty creation, but how you do it is entirely up to you! Read on for my take on this one…

I started with a 5×5 piece of premium card and used one of the Doodle Square Aperture dies to cut an inner frame onto it. I’ve subsequently realised that there are out of stock, but the other shapes are still available here

Having done that, I used the small patterned heart from the stamp set, ‘watering can’ Archival ink and a Stamp Pen Pro to create a flower on the topper.

Once the ink was fully dry (that didn’t take long in this heat!) I shaded in the hearts with a few Polychromo pencils – I went with light cadmium yellow, dark cadmium yellow and cadmium yellow lemon. I also shaded in the centre gap between the hearts and popped a large yellow enamel dot into it (don’t ask me how long I’ve had those – I dug them out of one of my stash boxes!)

I anchored my flower with the stem from the tall swirly stamp in the set (running low tack tape across the bottom of the frame to protect it) and added a couple of leaves from set 3 in the Build a Bloom stamps. I stamped one of the Statement Sentiments into the corner (all in ‘watering can’) and then couldn’t resist adding a little bee from the Just Butterflies & Bees set.

A quick mount of yellow companion paper, which shows through that fab die cut frame, a few more enamel dots, and it was onto a 6×6 card blank to finish.

So, let’s just check out my recipe elements: I’ve got several enamel dots including the one for the flower centre; my hearts built the flower; the large sentiment is in place; I die cut the frame; and there are several shades of yellow featuring. Job done!

I’m going to share this one with a couple of challenges, starting with the new grid at TicTacToe, having picked up the centre row of any colour (yellow!), adding a die cut for the free element and my bold sentiment. As neither the Doodleology stamps nor my enamel dots have seen the light of day for some time, I’m also sharing it with Neglected Stuff.
