Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s Seasonal Saturday card, this time featuring a bauble thanks to our new theme at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. I remembered that there is a bauble on one of the sets from the Twas the Night collection – these are such a fantastic series of images that Barbara drew to illustrate the famous Clement Clark Moore poem.

The first step was to emboss a frame to edge one of the 3.5″ squares of premium card, using a square embedder and a small ball tool. I could then stamp the image into the centre of the card with black Archival ink – helpfully this is a single stamp which removes all the worry about positioning the words accurately!

I then set about colouring in my bauble, starting with a waterbrush & mix mat for ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxide in the sky and ‘peeled paint’ on the trees. I used the fine tip of a red Perga Colour pen to edge the bauble and the ribbon, shading the cottage with grey Polychromos and a little soft blue highlight for the snow on the roof and over the ground.

Once the ink was fully dry, I added a mount of red Rainbow River companion paper and attached it to a 5×5 card blank. I highlighted the stars in the sky and the snow on the trees with a fine white Posca pen. The final step was to add sparkle to the roof, trees and ground with a Quickie glue pen and some Perga glitter – I did this last so I could then just leave the card to fully dry, without having to wait to attached the topper.

And here’s a better close-up of the lovely detail and sparkle on the bauble.

Do come on over and play along with us at 52CCT – we’d love to see your bauble themed cards in our gallery! And all the Clarity manufactured products I’ve used on this card are in the Half Price Members’ Sale, which runs until Monday 27th July – what’s not to like?
I’m off to share this in a few other challenges too, starting with Color Dare as I used their colour palette. The Christmas verse fits for Word Power, and the Christmas theme picks up Make My Monday and Merry Little Christmas!
