Hello everyone. I took the opportunity today to put one of my recent Craft Club stamps into use – I’ve got quite bad at it recently, and there’s a little pile of goodies sitting next to my craft desk awaiting their turn in the limelight, so here’s the ‘beast day floral corner’ set from last month (June).

This is a one layer card so, before inking up my stamps I used a square embedder and a small ball tool to emboss a frame on the front of a 5×5 card blank. For the uninitiated, these are squares (other shapes are available!) of stencil material which you attach to the front of your card with low tack tape, then flip to the other side, run a tumble dryer sheet over it (which helps the tool glide more easily) and then emboss round the edges with a small ball tool. It’s so simple and a great finishing effect for CAS cards! You could run it through an embossing machine with a rubber shim, but you get a much sharper outline using a ball tool (and it’s so quick too).

Anyway, having got a frame on the front of my card, I stamped the floral corner twice inside the square using ‘watering can’ Archival ink.

Next, it as time for my Polychromo pencils to add colour to the images – I went with light yellow cadmium, pink madder lake & earth green yellowish from the Spring set, plus coral from Winter. I also used a green Perga Colour pen to dot in the little berries.

The final step was to add the sentiment from the set, this time using black Archival ink to get the contrast against the background colours.

Normally I’d have done all the flowers in one shade, but I rather like this multicoloured version which is thanks to the colour palette at The Paper Players, which also picks up the summer moodboard at Inkspirational. I took a slightly loose approach to the layout at Freshly Made Sketches (hopefully you can still see the influence!) adding in the ‘one layer’ theme from Inspire.Create. So many challenges in one little card!
