Make your mark at Addicted to Stamps & More #521

Hello crafty friends. I’m back with another card using the new Tree Canopy Scene stamps, this time on a stencilled background for our new Make Your Mark theme at Addicted to Stamps & More. In case you’re not sure, this theme focuses on anything that can make a mark like alcohol markers, coloured pencils, paint, stencilling, chalk, and so on. I opted to go with a stencilled background on my card, using one of the Abstract Squares stencils and a little ink blending.

I first cut a piece of premium card 5 inches square and attached it to the stencil with low tack tape – having a ‘hinge’ like this makes it easy to check the depth of the ink blending as you go along. I then brushed (from the top down) ‘salvaged patina’. ‘twisted citron’ and ‘mowed lawn’ Distress Oxides through the stencil, blending the tones together for an even gradient.

Next was to stamp my trees into place, using the smaller ones in the set with ‘watering can’ Archival ink for the trunks and the ‘mowed lawn’ Distress Oxides for their canopies and the grassy ground.

I popped a couple of the little deer into place, using a white pencil to lighten their bellies, together with two of the Bijou Statement Sentiments.

Finally I used one of the larger square embedders and a ball tool to emboss a frame into a 6×6 card blank, ran a black Sharpie around the edges of the topper and attached them together.

This is one of those stencils I reach for every so often – the offset squares are just brilliant for creating several mini scenes on a card. My question now is – how will you choose to make your mark on your creation? Come and share it with us at Addicted to Stamps & More!
