Hello everyone. I’ve got a fun design to share with you today that I made yesterday on the brilliant Mask Masterclass with Barbara Gray – it’s still available to buy and I can thoroughly recommend it to get confident with using stamps and masking them for overlay techniques. Barbara is an absolute fount of tips and tracks and I always learn something new from her. Anyway, my card uses the Stamp Stamps with their pre-cut masks, together with a couple of the sets from the Friends & Family Silhouettes collection – these kids look like they’re having lots of fun in the summer holidays.

Anyway, I won’t talk through the technical details of this card, as you can find all those on the Mask Masterclass workshop if you want to know more, but here are the basic steps. I started with a piece of premium card (6×4 inches) and stamped four of the stamp outlines onto it, using the masks to be able to layer them up.

Next was to create the sky and ground in each scene using the Clouds and Hills masks from the Build a Scene set with ‘spun sugar’, ‘picked raspberry’ and ‘rustic wilderness’ Distress Oxides.

I then filled each stamp frame with little scenes of children playing using the Friends & Family Silhouettes, added one of the Bijou Statement Sentiments and trimmed the card down further.

I created a background for my topper by mopping up the pink & green Distress Oxides from a blending mat, then edges both pieces with a black Sharpie and attached them to a 5×7 card blank.

I had such a fun afternoon crafting along with Barbara to make a few cards, getting the most out of the masking techniques – the Mask Masterclass is definitely worth checking out as the live recording is now available as a video to work through at your own pace.
I didn’t follow Barbara’s layout on the workshop, opting instead to take the sketch from Atlantic Hearts which I thought was perfect for this style, combined with the colours from Creative Colour Challenge. My summer holiday kids also pick up the optional ‘any holiday’ twist at 613 Avenue Create and the ‘play’ theme at Just Us Girls.

I am enchanted with your card, Deborah. The stenciling in pink and green is unexpected and then matching the background with smooshing in the same colors pulled it all together. Those silhouettes are definitely a ‘play’ theme. Thanks for sharing your card with us at Just Us Girls.
