Hello crafty friends and welcome to the first Seasonal Saturday of July! I’m hosting the challenges at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown this month and as always we start off with a sketch. There’s lots of potential with this layout, and you can switch the circles for any shape. I opted to keep it simple with the snowflakes from the SHAC Baubles stamp set on one of the Autumn/Winter Skies toppers.

So, here’s the lowdown on this easy process. I took one of the skies toppers without a moon on it and stamped the snowflakes three times using Versamark clear ink, then heat embossed them with WOW’s super fine white powder. I also added one of the Statement Sentiments with ‘cobalt’ Archival ink.

I wanted to add a little more interest to the sky, so created a snowstorm effect by simply sprinkling WOW’s ultra high white embossing powder over the topper and then heating it from below to set the powder – you have to remember to hold the card flat and steady for this, as there’s no ink gripping the powder! I was trying to find a suitable card blank, as these toppers are a little larger than A6 – rather than trim it down (I wanted to keep the borders), I attached it to a 6×6 card blank with the fold at the top, then used my guillotine to cut the card blank level with the edge of the topper. Problem solved!

Do check out the rest of the design team’s inspiration over at 52 CCT and then come and play along with my sketch. Meanwhile, I’m going to share this one with a few other seasonally themed challenges, starting with CAS on Friday‘s ‘Christmas in July’, plus Merry Little Christmas and Holly & Ivy both have ‘anything goes’ themes.
