Be a rainbow

Hello crafty friends. It’s been another warm day here and I’m now down in Kent, where we’ve been setting up at Ditton Community Centre ready for the the next two days of Clarity’s Open Days. I’m going to be busy demonstrating with a few of the latest stamp sets (will be sharing more of those over the next few days), but first I wanted to highlight the last of my initial designs from the Summer Sampler stamps. This time I’ve just used one of the frames with one of the Mini Words of Wisdom stamps for a lovely card of encouragement.

I cut one of the 6×4.5″ pieces of premium card down to a square and stamped the pretty frame of flowers on to it with black Archival ink. I then masked it off with low tack tape so that I could brush ‘broken china’ Distress Oxide across the clouds mask to create my sky.

I added the Maya Angelou quote from the Mini Words of Wisdom set into the centre and shaded the letters in with a rainbow selection of Polychromo pencils.

I also filled in the frame of flowers, working the rainbow of colours in from each corner, then trimmed the topper down close to the frame. And you know what’s coming next – I used a square embedder and ball tool to emboss the front of a 5×5 card blank before attaching the topper to it!

So there we are – nice and simple as is my usual style! And Barbara and the Clarity team definitely are rainbows in people’s clouds – these days are always such fun. It’s not too late to come along either – just turn up at the door! Several of the design team are here demonstrating a range of the products – we don’t get to see each other very much, as we live all over the UK, so we’re off out to dinner tonight to catch (there’ll be no time to talk once the doors open tomorrow!)

In the meantime, I’m also going to share this with a few challenges, starting with Word Power. I’ve taken a lightly loose approach to the sketch at Atlantic Hearts, replacing their flowers with my clouds, and finally picked up the rainbow option at Colorful Options.
