Welcome to Saturday’s Christmas card and our new theme at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. This week we want to see animals featured on your cards, which gave me the perfect excuse to play with the Family of Penguins! I love these playful little penguins, this time sitting them around one of the Tall Art Deco Sentiments (one of Clarity’s Products of the Month for May).

I started with a 3.5″ square of premium card and stamped the sentiment into place using ‘evergreen bough’ Distress Oxide. Once the ink was dry, I lined up one of the Tall Sentiment Stencil Embedders over it, holding it in place with low tack tape, then flipped to the reverse of the card and embossed around it with a ball tool to create my frame. I then added matching mount of Antarctica companion paper.

Next was to sort out my little penguins, stamping them onto scrap card in ‘shadow grey’ Archival ink, adding colour with Polychromo pencils and then fussy cutting them.

Having attached the topper to a 5×5 card blank, I popped a bit of scrap card on the back of each penguin to just lift them slightly and then glued them into place on the card front.

I do love these little cuties! What animals do you like to include on your Christmas cards? There’s more inspiration from the rest of the design team over on the 52CCT blog and we hope you’ll join us in our gallery.
I’m sharing this card with a couple of other challenges. I took the colours from Creative Colour and We Love Stamping also has an animal theme.
