calligraphy friends

Hello again! I’m back with a second card using the fabulous ‘calligraphy girls’ stamps from ClarityCrafts, which Barbara also had on this afternoon’s shows – and they were very popular! I decided to go with a bit of paper piecing on this one, using the ‘hibiscus’ Infusions paper for a slightly different look.

The first step was to stamp the three girls onto half a 6×6 card blank in black Archival ink – I could overlap them so they were stood close together as they would be covered with paper. I masked off the ribbon on the ‘friends bijou dangles’ stamp and added it below the trio, then shaded it with a black Pergaliner pencil. The next stage was a bit more tricky than I’d anticipated! I stamped the three girls onto a piece of the ‘hibiscus’ paper and set about fussy cutting their dresses and hats. The dresses weren’t too bad, but the hats were smaller than they looked (especially the middle one!) – I needed tweezers to hold the paper! I managed to get them glued and onto the card front, grateful I didn’t cough or sneeze during the process!

Having breathed a sigh of relief, I ran a black Sharpie around the card edge, added a mount of the ‘hibiscus’ paper and attached the whole piece to a 7×7 card blank.

What do you think – was it worth the effort? If I did this again, I might well colour their hats with pencils! I’m going to share this over at Inspire.Create as a CASE (copy and selectively edit) of Verity’s card – the friends pick up the three elements really nicely.

  1. I am envisioning those ladies strolling to brunch. That stamp set is fabulous, so unique. Your effort has certainly paid off. Thanks for joining us at Inspire.Create.Challenges.
