snowy tree

Hello crafty friends. I’m still playing with the new nested circle doodle frame-it panel dies from ClarityCrafts, but changing to the ‘foliage’ design today to frame my little Christmas scene (and keep on track with my weekly challenge to myself!).

I started by cutting two frames and a mat with three consecutive dies. I cut a piece of mask material with a plain nested circle die to cover the outer edge of the panel, then blended ‘evergreen bough’ Distress Oxide into the centre and made sure it was dry using my heat gun.

I stamped the tree from ‘Linda’s Home for Christmas’ set in clear ink and heat embossed it with WOW superfine white powder. I added the snow by sprinkling WOW’s ultra high white powder onto the topper and melting it with the heat gun. The easiest way to do this is to hold the card whilst sprinking the powder with your fingers, then heat it from underneath – take care as it’s not held by ink so can easily blow off the card! I used a green Pergaliner pencil to add shading below the tree. I then embedded a circle into a square of stencil card, and added the two diecut frames and the topper in the centre, together with the sentiment from the ‘winter tags & frames’ stamp set.

Now I had intended to stop here, but I felt it still needed something else. Cue the little dog from the set! I stamped him onto a piece of scrap card with ‘watering can’ Archival ink, shaded him with grey Polychromo pencils (plus green for his neckerchief), then fussy cut him and glued him next to the tree. Much better!

I’m going to share this with the challenges at Colorful Options (their March colour is green!) and Peace on Earth
