layered circles

Hello there. I’m back with another look at the new ‘nested circles diamond & dots doodle frame-it panels’ dies from ClarityCrafts. I was inspired by various cards I’ve seen on social media using layered circle die cuts – this is a great way to use up offcuts of paper or card.

I first cut three mats with co-ordinating turquoise & green companion papers (Rainbow River, Waimea Falls & Indian Summer) starting with smallest die for the darker shade, then working outwards with the third and fifth smallest dies. I cut each of them in half and layered them up onto the largest one, offsetting them to the side.

I cut a 5×5 card blank in half for my topper (it’s less wasteful than always cutting down a piece of 7×7 stencil card!) and used a circle embedder to create a frame that I could then attach the die cuts into. I left a small space between the two halves and glued a narrow strip of scrap card into it.

I edged the topper with a black Sharpie pen and attached it to a 6×6 card blank. To finish, I put a black word sticker onto a strip of black card so it would extend slightly beyond the edge of the circle, then glued that across the centre (sitting on the strip of card I’d put between the diecuts).

What do you think? There are so many options of colourways for this design, but I took this one from Color Hues, also picking up the central column of TicTacToe‘s grid (thinking of you sentiment, free & any shape)

  1. Such a creative layout and design, Deborah! The best part is that the circles have a design to them so it brings the eyes in. Thanks for playing at Color Hues!
