Seize the Birthday challenge – red

Hello again. I’m delighted to be back with my second card as the ‘surprise party guest’ for Seize the Birthday – this time the task is to use red as the main colour on our cards. I took the opportunity of an early peek at the new ‘Just Flowers’ that ClarityCrafts are launching tomorrow (Barbara will be on Create & Craft TV at 9am and 1pm) – the little roses were perfect for a red themed card!

I started with a small embedder to create a frame on the front of a 5×5 card blank, ran low tack tape round the edges and then lightly brushed ‘mowed lawn’ Distress Oxide through the trellis design from the KISS ‘ring of stencils 1’ set, keeping it to the centre of the frame. I then stamped the two small rose images onto a strip of scrap card, coloured them with Pergaliner pencils and fussy cut them.

I glued the roses in a row along the bottom of the embedder frame and finished with the sentiment from the ‘Just Flowers’ set.

There’s more inspiration from the design team over on the Seize the Birthday blog and we’d love to see your red cards in our gallery! I’m going to share this card with the challenges at AAA Cards, Addicted to CAS, and Just Us Girls. I’ll be back with another card featuring the new ‘Just Flowers’ set tomorrow.

  2. I can’t imagine fussy cutting those tiny roses but you did a great job, Deborah, and they look wonderful all lined up below the stenciled trellis. Thanks for sharing your card with us at Just Us Girls.
