Clarity craft club lookback – butterfly box die

Hello there! It’s Suday again so I’ve delved back into my Craft Club back issues from ClarityCrafts – this time for the ‘butterfly box die’ (#44) from August 2022. I made the little boxes last Christmas (you can see that post here) and today decided to just use the little butterfly die from the set.

I’ve managed to combine a few challenges for this card, taking the layout from Atlantic Hearts and the colours from Color Throwdown, together with the ‘anything goes’ theme from Seize the Birthday

Once again, I managed to find a mop-up inky background in my stash in the right colours, although that probably says more about the number of these I’ve got in my folder than any sense of amazing planning!

I cut the background into squares, following the layout on AHSC’s sketch and glued all the smaller ones around the outer edged into place (and forgot to take a photo at this point!). I took the larger left hand square and cut the butterfly into the top corner (it’s wings lift out from the card, rather than being a separate die cut), popped a little masking tape under each of the wings and added a little more colour to it with my waterbrush and ‘broken china’ Distress Oxide.

I stamped the flowers from the ‘KISS – dream, hope, believe’ set onto the card square using ‘watering can’ Archival ink and coloure them with Pergaliner pencils. I mounted the card onto a narrow layer of grey card and then attached it to the card front.

I finished with a couple of sentiments from the ‘bijou art nouveau’ stamps set, again using the ‘watering can’ Archival, and decided to leave all the outer squares without any other embellishment.
