floral rainbow

Welceom to my crafty blog and a rainbow of flowers courtesy of the ‘fresh florals’ stamps & dies by Julie Hickey Designs. I was inspired by one of Julie’s own cards, picking up the ‘rainbow’ theme from both Just Us Girls and Can You Handle The Pressure

I started with a piece of watercolour card that I’d cut to fit a slimline (UK DL size) card. I used a waterbrush to add Distress Oxide inks in ‘picked raspberry’, ‘ripe persimmon’, ‘squeezed lemonade’, ‘mowed lawn’ and broken china’. I spritzed the card heavily with water so that the inks ran, then set it aside to dry. Once ready, I added a strip of black card along each of the long sides and glued it to the card blank. (I forgot to take a photo at this point, but you can get the idea of the effect before I attached all the flowers)

I stamped the ‘fresh florals’ daisy five times onto watercolour card and coloured each of them with one of the inks. Once dry, I die cut them all, then ran them through a ‘swiss dots’ embossing folder. I used an embossing ball tool on the reverse of the flowers to make the centres pop a little and curled the petals with a bone folder. I then glued each of them to the card front to sit on the matching part of the background.

I added black Stickles glitter glue to the centre of each flower and finished with an appropriate word sticker from Clarity.

It’s such a cheerful card – certain to brighten anyone’s day!

  1. 💙🌼💙this!! I saw this on Can you Handle the Pressure Challenge and came by for a closer look. I host a new challenge, Park Hopping My Happy Place Challenge. It is anything goes inspired by a theme park. Your card reminds me of the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot, Disneyworld, FL. I hope you’ll join the fun! Have a creative weekend. 2. I love how the color of your lovely flowers spills over onto the background, Deborah. This is such a beautiful card. Thanks for sharing it with us at Just Us Girls.
