Sparkles challenge – CAS

Welcome to my craft blog and our new theme at Sparkles challenges. I’m in my happy place with this one, as Helen has chose CAS (clean and simple) for this month. It gave me a good reason to play with my new little set of ‘celebrate your day flowers’ by Tina Cox for Clarity’s KISS range, picking up the palette from CAS Colours & Sketches

I started by stamping the flowers onto a square of white card, then stamped them again onto an all-over sticky note which I fussy cut to create a mask. After covering the flowers, I sponged ‘shaded lilac’ Distress Oxide onto Clarity’s small circle backdrop stamp, spritzed it with water and stamped it onto the card. I have to be honest, I was a bit heavy handed with the spritzing but I quite like the effect!

I used Distress Oxides in ‘mustard seed’ and ‘twisted citron’ with a waterbrush to colour the image. You can see from this mage that I managed to get a yellow splodge on the card! Thankfully it was on the edge, so I was able to trim the topper down a little to rescue it.

Once tidied up, I ran a black Sharpie around the card edge and attached it to a 6×6 card blank. I like the larger frame around the edge of the card blank that I finished up with – it seems a better balance.

Thanks for dropping in. We’d love to see your CAS creations in the Sparkles gallery, and there’s lots more inspiration over there from the rest of the design team.

  1. Those flowers are so pretty Deborah but the circle is the real scene-stealer here – I love the speckle effect that the water splatter give too. Thanks for sharing with us over at CAS Colours & Sketches this week!
