flowers & wings

Welcome to my crafty blog. I’ve brought out the ‘framed florets’ set from Stampin’ Up!, which I haven’t used for a little while. The palette at Colour INKspiration immediately said ‘flowers’ to me and I took the layout from Freshly Made Sketches which I rotated. I’ve also picked up the embossing challenge from Can You Handle The Pressure, together with their optional twist of ‘thing with wings’.

The first step was to emboss the lower part of a square of white card with one of SU’s ‘meadow moments’ folders. I used a ‘granny apple green’ Write marker to add colour to each of the embossed leaves, then mounted it on a layer of ‘garden green’ card (don’t have the ‘granny apple’ in cardstock) and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

I stamnped the floral spray from the ‘framed florets’, together with a few extra individual blooms and leaves, then coloured them with Write markers and a blender pen – ‘highland heather’ & ‘daffodil delight’ on the flowers and ‘granny apple green’ for the leaves. After die cutting them all out I popped the spray onto the card front with foam pads and added the other flowers & leaves around it, mounting each of them on a scrap bit of card.

I stamped the butterfly from SU’s ‘daffodil daydream’, coloured it in ‘tahitian tide’ and die cut it, then glued it onto the flowers. The final step was to stamp the sentiment from ‘art gallery’.

It’s a bit too early in the year (and too cold) for butterflies just yet, but I’m hoping I may get to spot a few Common Blues in the garden over the summer.
