Hello crafty friends. I’ve been playing with the ‘sweet meadow’ stamp from Julie Hickey Designs today, using the colours from Color Throwdown – the image also fits with the inspiration photo! I’m also going to share it as a second offering for Happy Little Stampers‘ watercolour challenge (and there are a few wings in the background on this one).

I started by stamping the flowers onto a square of white card in ‘watering can’ Archival ink. I used Clarity’s clouds mask and a brush to blend ‘broken china’ Distress Oxide across the top of the card, creating the sky.

I then used a waterbrush to colour the flowers & leaves with ‘chipped sapphire’, ‘ripe persimmon’ & ‘mustard seed’ Distress Oxides. I also loosely coloured around the image with the ‘broken china’ to break up the white card.

I added one of Julie’s ‘sweet sentiments’ in the ‘chipped sapphire’, mounted the topper onto a square of navy card and attached it to a 6×6 card blank. The final touch was to add a few birds in the sky with a micron pen.

Thanks for dropping in. I’m eagerly awaiting the spring flowers in my garden, but apparently we’re heading for another cold snap in the UK so it could be a little while yet…
Love this!
