watercoloured daffodils

Welcome to my crafty blog on St David’s day! St David is the patron saint of Wales, so I just had to go with another card of daffodils, the Welsh national flower. It’s also the launch of the next challenge at Love to Craft – as always the theme is ‘anything goes’. I’m sharing it as a second offering for Global Design Project‘s ‘spring’ theme and with Happy Little Stampers who are back with their watercolour challenge.

I’ve once again used the spray of flowers from Stampin’ Up!’s ‘daffodil daydream’ set, but this time started by stamping them onto a piece of watercolour card. I coloured them using Clarity’s Pergaliner watercolour pencils and a waterbrush – I scribbled the pencil pigment onto the image focusing where I wanted the darker shade and then spread it out with the waterbrush, blending red and yellow on the flowers. Once dry, I added blue around the image and washed it outwards with the brush.

I cut the card with Stampin’ Up!’s ‘deckled rectangle’ dies, added a black layer and mounted both onto an A6 card blank that I’d made from ‘balmy blue’ cardstock.

I finished with one of Clarity’s black word stickers, to reflect the frame.

We’re making this card later this week in the craft group that I run – hope they like it! Meanwhile, why don’t you come and join us over at Love to Craft? There’s lots of inspiration from my design team-mates (I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest), but don’t forget – anything goes!
