linocut daisies

Hello there. I’m back with another spring card today, which I’ve realised essentially uses the same colours as yesterday – does that make me consistent or predictable?! This one has a bit of a different look though, thanks to the ‘linocut daisy’ stamp from ClarityCrafts. I’ve picked up the ‘spring time’ theme from Inspire.Create with my yellow daisies, together with the right hand column of spring, floral & sympathy on TicTacToe‘s grid.

The first step was to stamp the ‘linocut daisies’ onto a square of white card. I used the outline stamp for this (there are 2 stamps in the set, with the second one filling in the background). I wated to get the colours onto specific area of the stamp and my sponges were too big, so I resorted to cotton buds which enabled me to get in tight on each part of the stamps. I used my stamping platform for this which meant I could do each colour in turn (Distress Oxides in ‘broken china’, squeezed lemonade’ & ‘mowed lawn’).

I added the little butterflies from the set in ‘broken china’, with one of them sitting on a flower. I wasn’t terribly happy with the flowers at this point, as you couldn’t really see the detail from the yellow ink. I popped the card back in my stamping platform, lined up the second stamp (which fills in the background) and just added a little ‘broken china’ ink around the flower heads using the cotton bud, which really brought them out.

I mounted the topper onto a square of Clarity’s ‘Waimea Falls’ companion paper and attached it to a 6×6 card blank. One of the KISS word stickers finished it nicely.

Thanks for dropping in. I haven’t used these linocut stamps for a little while but they do make great images on cards.

  1. Loving the linocut vibe Deborah. And the way you’ve tied the sentiment to the image with those butterflies. The colours are gorgeous so well worth using again and again in my book!! Thank you for coming to play at Tic Tac Toe! Vicky x
