I still can’t bring myself to put Stampin’ Up!’s ‘adorable owls’ set away, so here’s another offering with it. I need more new baby cards and the cute owls just seem to fit the bill. This one is inspired by a couple of blog challenges: The Paper Players have a CAS theme of birds (and a new baby is a very happy ‘bird-day’!) and I tied in the colour palette from Creative Colour Challenges – not an obvious choice for a new baby but I think it works.

I started by stamping one of the owls, then colouring her with ‘smokey slate’ SU Blend alcohol markers as the nearest shade I’d got to ‘gray granite’, I added ‘parakeet party’ to her eyes and hat, then fussy cut the image. The nest is from the retired ‘birds and branches’ set – I stamped it in ‘mossy meadow’ and die cut it, then attached it to the front of a 5×5 card blank with a mount of scrap card. I glued the owl into place so she was sitting inside the nest.

I cut two hearts in ‘parakeet party’ using a die from the ‘birds & branches’ set and glued them either side of the owl, finishing with a sentiment from ‘perfectly paired’ (another retired set).

I might make a few more of these in different colours.
Absolutely adorable!! 😂
