happily ever after

Welcome to my crafty blog and another wonderful die cut from Clarity Crafts. This was actually the very first die they produced – Barbara Gray designed it for her wedding invitations! I’ve picked up a few things from Festive Friday‘s ‘wear red day’ inspiration list – red, square card & ribbon (I’m not sure if the little enamel heart counts as a rhinestone…). I hadn’t heard of ‘wear red day’ so looked it up – it’s in aid of heart disease in the US, so the little cut out in the tree trunk is very appropriate!

Thie first step was to cut ‘the happy couple’ die into the front of a 6×6 card blank.

I took a piece of the ‘Indian summer’ designer paper in lovely red tones (this is the reverse side, which is more muted) and cut a square to fit the card. I then cut the outer edge off to form a frame using a nested die and glued that to the card front – the inner square went behind the die cut on the inside of the card.

I used a scrap of the paper on the other side to cut out the two birds, then paper pieced them onto the die cut. I added an enamel heart to the tree trunk, finishing with a ribbon bow and a word sticker.

I know this is the wrong colour, but I’ve had the Seventies hit ‘tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree’ running through my head ever since I added the bow! Sorry if that’s now you as well!

  1. I love this – the red makes for a lovely background and the extra details really step up this die. Thanks for playing along with us over at Festive Friday – and yes, now I’m singing that song!
