Hello crafty friends. I’m trying to make some time over Christmas to play with some of the new goodies I’ve had over the last couple of months and not had time to try out. I’ve gone with one of the new ‘build a scene’ masks from Clarity as the basis of this card, taking the colour scheme from Inspire.Create.Challenges

I went with the ‘hills and clouds’ sheet, which has 6 different masks. I used the skyline with the house first, brushing ‘mowed lawn’ Distress Oxide to form the landscape, then sponging a little ‘walnut stain’ to create the house. I used the two other hills sections to create the foreground, again blending the ‘mowed lawn’ across them with a brush.

I covered the horizon and house with the reverse part of the mask and brushed ‘tattered rose’ into the sky. I added a couple of the ‘doodle flowers’ from Clarity’s new KISS (Keep It Simple Stamping) range, together with a few doodle trees by the house, then coloured them all with a waterbrush and ink – ‘dusty concord’ & ‘tattered rose’, with ‘mowed lawn’ for the trees.

I thought the landscape looked a little stark, so I used the mask with the bushes outline to add foliage along the front, sponging a blend of the ‘mowed lawn’ and ‘walnut stain’, together with a few more trees. Slightly worried I might have over-cooked it but too late now!

I finished by adding the sentiment in the sky, ran a black Sharpie around the edges of the card and the attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

You can see the pale pink in the sky now it’s against the white card blank. I am a fan of Clarity’s masks and this set’s got lots of potential…
Great card!
