paper pieced Santa

Welcome to my crafty blog and a Christmas card with no ink or stamping on it (not my usual style!) I thought of Clarity’s Santa round aperture die when I saw the theme at The Paper Players and it works really well for the sketch at Atlantic Hearts. Inkspirational‘s theme of paper piecing was also perfect for the design.

I started by cutting the die into a piece of black card and cutting it out with a nested circle die. I cut a second circle in gold card and glued the die cut to it. I added a strip of gold card to a black 6×6 card blank and then glued the topper to it.

I recut the Santa die twice more, once in white and then in red, then pieced the parts I wanted into the frame of the black die cut.

I finished by gluing the stars from the white die cut around the circle, then added one of Clarity’s word stickers.

  4. This is amazing! I love these fussy dies but I get frustrated with those little pieces, so I am quite impressed at your patience! The final product is just stunning and perfect for the sketch too! Thanks for playing with my challenge this week at the Players!
