Christmas jumpers

Hello crafty friends. I’m back to Christmas cards today, this time a card for a friend to give her son & his girlfriend using the ‘Christmas jumper’ stamp set from Clarity. All the work on this card is in the masking & stamping on the jumpers, but it’s worth it!

I started with the background on a square of olive card. I attached Clarity’s ‘holly wreath’ stencil to the card using low tack tape, then dragged glitter paste through it using a small spatula. I carefully lifted the stencil then left the paste to dry (getting my stencil washed off straight away!) I mounted it on a layer of darker green card and then onto a 7×7 card blank.

I stamped the jumper outline twice onto textured card, one with ‘peat moss’ Archival ink and then in ‘poppy’. I used the outer part of the pre-cut mask that comes with the stamps to cover up the outline, and added some low tack tape along the armholes at the top of the sleeves. I used the mini stamps in the set to fill in the bodies of the jumpers, the repositioned the masking tape onto the jumper so I could add the pattern to the sleeves. I used a couple of Pergaliner pencils to colour in the neck, cuffs & welt at the bottom, also using them to add shading around the edges and along the top of the sleeves so they didn’t look so flat.

I then fussy cut the jumpers and attached them to the card front, gluing a scrap piece of card to the back of each so they stood out a little more (cheaper than foam pads!)

Thanks for dropping in. I’m heading off to link this up with a couple of challenges – Global Design Project‘s new theme is ‘winter’ (these jumpers are perfect for cold weather) and Merry Little Christmas challenge doesn’t need any explaining!
