Welcome to my crafty blog. I’ve been playing with Julie Hickey’s foilable die cuts again, this time with a wreath from her ‘Festive’ set. I’ve taken the colours from CAS Colours & Sketches, which might not be an abvious choice at first glance but it is possible to get poinsettia with green/cream bracts! I used the new sketch from Global Design Project and incorporated Can You Handle The Pressure‘s optional twist of ‘wreath’, together with the right hand column from TicTacToe’s grid.

I started with a piece of card trimmed to fit a 5×5 card blank, which I embossed using Julie’s Christmas stencil – I lined the stencil up on the card, added a few sheets of copy paper underneath as a shim and then ran it through my embossing machine. I lightly blended some ‘soft succulent’ ink into the centre of the card and attached it to the card blank.

I foiled the wreath using gold, then coloured the image with Stampin’ Up! Write markers – ‘soft succulent’ for the poinsettia, ‘old olive’ for the holly leaves and ‘early espresso’ for the leafy sprays. I added it to the card front using a scrap bit of card glued on the back as a mount (cheaper than foam pads & saves on any card waste!) I managed to catch a bit of the gold in the light on this

I finished with some little SU acetate snowflakes, which have a faint green tint to them.

Thanks for dropping in. We’re inching closer to Christmas and that’s another card into the stash, but I think I need to step up my card production rate!
Ooooh that wreath is so pretty!! I love the layout you chose for your card. The subtle embossing on the background makes a huge difference, too! Thank you for joining us this week at CC&S!
