grateful

Welcome to my crafty blog. I’ve been meaning to get Clarity’s ‘chinese lantern spray’ stamp out for a while now and finally got round to it today, thanks to the inspiration from The Paper Players and The Card Concept. I know they’re not pumpkins, but they are orange!

I started by stamping the background using the largest of Clarity’s ‘ocean swirls’ mixed impressions stamps. I brayed ‘dried marigold’ Distress Oxide onto the stamp before giving it a light spritz of water and stamping onto a piece of their stencil card.

I stamped the A5 ‘chinese lantern spray’ onto the card using ‘watering can’ Archival ink, then coloured the image with a selection of Pergaliner pencils – oranges & browns for the fruit cases and green for the leaves & stems. I used a Pergacolour marker pen for the small sprays of flowers.

I used an HB pencil to add shading around the fruit pods & leaves, to give it a bit of depth. I trimmed the card down to fit an A6 card blank and blended a little more of the ‘dried marigold’ around the sides, as the stamped background wasn’t as wide as the card. I then glued a black frame from Clarity’s ‘doodle frame-it’ dies around the edge of the card and attached it to the card blank.

The final touch was one of Clarity’s word stickers – I didn’t think it needed anything else.

Thanks for dropping in. I’ll be back with another offering tomorrow

  1. Oh, I just love this image! My grandmother had these growing in her garden and I always get so nostalgic when I see them. Such a beautiful card! Thanks so much for joining us this week over at The Paper Players!
