paper strips birthday

Welcome to my crafty blog. Today’s card uses up scraps of paper – always handy! I’ve CASE’d a card I saw by Heidi Collins on Instagram – the inspiration photo at Inspire.Create immediately made me think of it, so I decided to give it a go.

I started with a square of white card and strips of paper trimmed from the ‘friendly hello’ DSP that was in the last Stampin’ Up! Saleabration. I laid the strip out first to decide what ortder I wanted them in and then glued them to the card. I have to admit, there is more green on here than I’d planned, as I managed to glue the wrong side of one of the strips (which should have been blue)!

I then cut a crossways strip out of the piece, turned it round and mounted it on a piece of black card. I glued the remaining top and bottom pieces to a black 6×6 card blank and then added the mounted strip across the gap.

I cut Julie Hickey’s ‘happy profile’ die, using black for the background and a piece of the green DSP for the word, glued them together and then onto the card. I finished by stamping ‘birthday’ across the rotated strip in black Versafine Clair ink.

I’m going to try this again, maybe with brighter colours, so watch this space!
