Sparkles challenge – owls

Hello crafty friends. Well we’ve got a new theme for the next month over at Sparkles Challenge and Zowie has chosen ‘owls’. I’ve gone for a kid’s card with the new ‘hoot hoot hooray’ set from Avery Elle – this little chap is just too cute! I’ve picked up the layout from Freshly Made Sketches and the colours from Color Throwdown, and am also sharing it with Seize the Birthday – their new theme is ‘faces’!

I started with a piece of Stampin’ Up!’s ‘starry sky’ patterned paper (I thought the dots looked a bit like stars in a night sky), die cut an oval into it and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

I then stamped one of the owls from the set, with the branch, using black Versafine Clair. I coloured both images with Stampin’ Up! blends in ‘soft suede’, ‘misty moonlight’ and the new skin tones 800 & 900. I die cut them & attached to the card front using foam pads.

I stamped the sentiment with black Versafine, die cut it with an oval and added it on a fam pad. A few white resin dots finished the card nicely, together with Wink of Stella to put a shimmer on the owl’s hat (it is for Sparkles Challenge, after all!).

Do hop over to Sparkles to check out the inspiration from the rest of the design team, and then come and join in the fun. Our owl theme runs until 14th November.

  1. With my owl obsession I just had to come check out your card, Deborah, after seeing it on Freshly Made Sketches. So great that you could combine three challenges with this darling card.
