Eden’s greeting

Hello there! A fairly quick card this evening, firmly back in my CAS comfort zone, using Stampin’ Up!’s ‘Eden’s garden’ set. I went with the colours from Global Design Project, which I thought would work with the ‘leaves’ theme from The Paper Players (I don’t have any scarecrows!) Now I’ve looked at The Paper Players’ challenge pic again, the scarecrow has pink flowers and green leaves entwined around him, so these colours definitely work!

I’ve CASE’d a card I saw on Pinterest for the layout, just using the large foliage and berries stamp from ‘Eden’s Garden’. I went back to my new favourite technique of blending the colour using Write markers (I’ve found this works best on rubber stamps, rather than photopolymer), working with my stamping platform and adding one colour at a time. I start with the lightest and move towards the darker shades – stamping each colour in turn means they don’t become a muddy brown on the stamp! I tried to pick out the berries on the stamp with the ‘flirty flamingo’, highlighted the outer leaves with ‘parakeet party’ and filled the rest in with ‘evening evergreen’ (the closest I’d got to GDP’s ‘shaded spruce’).

I attached the card to an A6 card blank, then stamped the sentiment in ‘evening evergreen’ onto a scrap of white card and added it the front on foam pads, finishing with a few pink Glossies.

Using these colours made me look at this stamp a bit differently – I think it would work well on Christmas cards with red berries.

  1. I like the simple layout and it looks great in these fresh colours Deborah, although I agree it would look nice in festive colours for Christmas too. I think I need to use this set more!! Thanks for sharing with us over at The Paper Players this week!
