bleached sunflower

Welcome to my crafty blog. Today sees the start of a new challenge over at Love to Craft and the theme as always is ‘anything goes’.

For my design team card I’ve gone with Julie Hickey’s ‘sunflower’ stamp set and a bit of bleaching! I started with a square of grey pearlescent card, stamped the sunflower onto it with WOW clear ink and then heat embossed it with ‘gold satin pearl’ powder. I then used a waterbrush to paint bleach onto the petals, which reacted with the card to change it’s colour. I’m a big fan of this technique – some card works better than others, so it’s always best to test a bit first to see what colour you get from the bleach.

I then stamped the bee onto parchment using the WOW clear ink and again heat embossed it in ‘gold satin pearl’. I used a black Pergacolour pen on the reverse of the parchment to add the bee’s stripes and cut it with the co-ordinating die, before gluing it onto the flower.

All I needed to then do was attach the card to a 6×6 card blank. I couldn’t decide on a sentiment, so left it without one.

I’m going to be making this card with my craft group later this afternoon – I hope they enjoy it. In the meantime, come on over and share your creations with us at Love to Craft – it’s great to see all the creativity in the gallery.
