Welcome to my crafty blog. Today’s card uses the ‘lovely leaves’ dies from Julie Hickey Designs with a bit of ink blending. I’ve picked up the challenge from Global Design Project, which is to CASE (copy and selectively edit) the card designed by Susan, and added in the colours from Just Us Girls

I started by die cutting the leafy spray twice into a piece of card that I’d trimmed to fit a 5×7 card blank (after putting Stick It adhesive sheet on the back). I then laid it on the card front and put a few pencil marks for the position of the leaves so that I could blend ink into the right area – I used ‘weathered wood’ & ‘ripe persimmon’ Distress Oxides.

I attached the die cut topper sheet to the front of the card, and pieced in the leafy outlines that the die also cut (this is where the Stick It came into it’s own!)

I die cut one of Julie’s ‘dinky hexagon’ shapes, stamped the sentiment onto it in ‘shadow grey’ Archival ink and glued it to the card front. This die also cuts a separate frame, and I glued that into place to mirror the pieced effect around the leaves.

I finished by scattering gold Glossies around the leaves and onto the central hexagon.

Thanks for dropping in. Temperatures here in London are now back at the normal levels, thank goodness, although my poor garden is looking very parched! We’ve got rain forecast for tomorrow – what a week of contrasts!
What a lovely and super delicate card, Deborah. The ink blending job is absolutely amazing. Thanks so much for joining us at Just Us Girls this week.
