summer flowers

Hello crafty friends, and welcome to another card featuring die cuts – it does seem to be becoming a bit of theme for me! I’ve gone back to the ‘friendship flower’ dies from Julie Hickey Designs for this card, inspired by a few of this week’s challenges. The layout picks up the new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, the colours are from Just Us Girls (with green as my additional colour), and I added in the central column of diecut, square & twine from TicTacToe‘s grid.

I started by cutting a square of white card and blending ‘brken china’ Distress Oxide across Claritystamp’s ‘clouds’ mask onto it, adding extra around the edge to enhance it. I also blended the blue onto a strip of white card which I attached to a 5×7 card blank and added the cloudy square on top. Really sorry, but I forgot to take a photo at this point! I die cut the friendship flowers and blended ‘festive berries’ onto the petals and ‘mowed lawn’ on the stems. I tied a bow in white twine around the stems, then glued them onto the card font.

I die cut the small centre from Julie’s new ‘beautiful blooms’ dies, blended ‘mustard seed’ onto them and glued them on the flowers. I finished by stamping the sentiment from ‘vertical wishes’ onto a die cut banner, again in the ‘broken china’ and popped it onto the card front.

I just thought these looked really summery in the red & yellow, and they look a lot perkier than the poor flowers in their pots out on my decking at the moment. It’s been so hot and dry here I’ve been watering them twice a day to try and keep them going!

  1. It has been scorchio hasn’t it Deborah! This bright card suits the summer weather perfectly. I love the cloud background for the flowers and the little twine bow. Thank you for playing with us at Tic Tac Toe! Vicky

  2. This is such a pretty summer card! I love those flowers and the bright, cheery colours! Love the clouds stencilled in the background as well! It’s dry here all the time but it hasn’t been all that warm! Today was the first really warm day yet this year! Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!
