Welcome to my crafty blog. I need a few more cards for weddings and anniversaries that are coming up, so thought I’d better make a start! I’ve been mulling on the current theme of ‘tropical’ from Time Out and remembered the ‘touch of ink’ set from Stampin’ Up!’s Saleabration last year, which has a humming bird in it. The colours from CAS Colours & Sketches also have a tropical feel to them, and I’ve taken the layout from Atlantic Hearts (who’ve teamed up with the Double Trouble challenge this week). Phew – that’s a long list!

I started by creating the background for the card, picking up ‘Thing 1’ from Double Trouble’s challenge. I stamped the flowers and leaves from ‘touch of ink’ using ‘parakeet party’ and ‘sweet sorbet’ Write markers to colour the stamps. I mounted it on a strip of ‘parakeet party’ card and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

I stamped the sentiment from the retired ‘wonderful romance’ set onto a strip of whote card, again in the ‘parakeet party’ and added it to the card front. I also stamped the flower again onto a scrap piece of card, fussy cut it and mounted it over one of the sprays in the background using foam pads.

I stamped the hummingbird twice, colouring the infill stamp with ‘tahitian tide’ and ‘parakeet party’ Write markers, then fussy cut them and added them to the card on foam pads. Having addded the extra layer on the flower a well meant that I could tuck the birds’ bills under it, so they really do look like they are sipping the nectar.

Thanks for dorpping in. I’m late posting today – been busy clearing out a room ready to start redecorating next week. It’s very exciting, as I’ll have a whole new crafting area in there when it’s finished! More of that over the next few weeks…
Very Pretty!
