beautiful blooms

Welcoem to my crafty blog and a first play with some of the new ‘beautiful blooms’ dies from Julie Hickey Designs. These graphic flowers remind me of the Mary Quant logo from the 1960s. I went with the combined sketch and colours challenge from CAS Colours and Sketches, as well as the left hand column of spots, patterned paper & flowers from TicTacToe‘s grid. I’ve used an embossing folder, and so the addition of the butterfly fits nicely for Can You Handle The Pressure‘s theme.

I don’t have the exact colours from CASC&S’ palette, but found this old polkadot paper in my stash in a lovely teal. I trimmed a piece of white card to fit a 6×6 card blank and cut the diagonal across the bottom with my paper trimmer. I ran it through SU!’s ‘painted texture’ folder, attached it to the spotty paper and cut the base of that to follow the diagonal on the white card.

I blended ‘twisted citron’ Distress Oxide onto a scrap piece of card and cut the three flowers from it. I cut them again from the spotty paper, so that I had centres for my lime flowers (and spare flowers for another card!)

I found an offcut of deep pink card in my scrap box that matched the ‘berry burst’ and used the small Martha Stewart butterfly punch, gluing the butterfly onto the largest of the three flowers. I finished by stamping one of the sentiments from Julie’s ‘just a note’ set.

I really like this colour combination – it works so well with these graphic flowers.

  1. Perfectly CAS and a pretty flower trio with the cute butterfly addition too. Thanks for sharing with us over at CAS Colours & Sketches and TicTaToe this week!
