red & aqua blooms

Hello there. Well I’m back in my CAS comfort zone today, with another card using Julie Hickey’s ‘daisy blooms’ stamp. There’s a bit of a twist with this card as well, which is not obvious at first glance! Inkspirational have challenged us to use something free or gifted on our cards – I’ve used the card insert from one of my new packs of Julie’s foilable die cuts (which are now safely stored in a small plastic box)! I’ve also used the red & aqua from Color Hues (Julie’s backing card fits perfectly), and the ‘flowers’ theme from Addicted to CAS

I started by trimming the top off the card insert (which went into the box with the foilables), and cut the remaining piece to fit an A6 card blank. I then stamped the ‘daisy blooms’ onto it using ‘watering can’ Archival ink.

I used Pergaliner pencils to then shade the flowers in red & aqua, using a blending nib to smooth out the colours. I addded aqua to the leaves, and ran the pencil along the flower stems as well for extra depth of colour.

I added a couple of the sentiments from the set to finish, again using ‘watering can, and then attached the topper to the card blank.

I’m really pleased with how well the card insert has worked for this background. I’ve got a few more, so watch out for them in future posts – you know I can’t bear to throw anything away!

  1. This totally caught my attention as soon as I popped on over to Color Hues to see if we had any new entries! I love the way you colored the images using both colors. Such a pretty card, Deborah!
