time to bloom

Hello crafty friends. Today’s card uses the ‘garden blooms’ set from Julie Hickey, which felt just right for a the beautiful sunny afternon we’ve had here. I’ve taken inspiration from a couple of current challenges – the colours (aqua, lime green & navy) are from Color Throwdown, paired with the theme of ‘no layers + plant/grow/farm’ from AAA cards

I started by stamping the large flowers from the set at an angle across the bottom corner of an A6 card blank, and heat embossed it with WOW’s metallic silver powder.

I coloured the image with a waterbrush and Distress Oxides in ‘salvaged patina’, ‘twisted citron’ & ‘chipped sapphire’. I added strokes of navy to the centre of the flowers to give them a bit more depth, then blended the ‘salvaged patina’ back over them to soften the lines.

I stamped two of the sentiments from the ‘daisy blooms’ set in the ‘chipped sapphire’ – ‘it’s your time to bloom’ felt very appropriate for AAA’s theme. I still felt it needed something more, though, so added the splodgy dots (I think that’s the technical term!) from the ‘all about the girls’ set around the image in ‘salvaged patina’ to give a sense of the sky.

Thanks for dropping in. The other reason I went for florals today is that our tickets for the Chelsea Flower Show have just arrived, ready for next week, so I’m very excited!
