Welcome to my crafty blog and a cascade of spring violas. I love those little pansies – I’ve got a couple of pots of them on my decking and thought the colours from the current Colour INKspiration would work well on them. The layout for this card is from a new-to-me challenge over at Atlantic Hearts
I started by embossing a piece of white card with Stampin’ Up!’s ‘bricks and mortar’ folder, which I attached to a 5×7 card blank.
I then stamped and die cut several of the small flowers from SU’s ‘pansy patch’ set. I used ‘pale papaya’ for all the centres, adding the outer parts in ‘mango melody’, ‘poppy parade’ and ‘gorgeous grape’, with the little centres in black. I don’t have SU inkpads, but their Write markers work really well for colouring stamps.
I ran the violas down the front of the card, attaching them with foam pads. I die cut a few of the leaves in basic black card and glued those into place around the flowers.
When I looked at the card again, I thought the black leaves were too heavy so cut several more in white card, coloured them with a ‘pale papaya’ marker and glued them over the black leqves. I offset them very slightly so there was a drop shadow on the leaves, to give them a bit more definition. I stamped the sentiment in black on a die cut from the ‘tasteful labels’ set and finished with a few black resin dots.
That looked much better!
