Welcome to my crafty blog. I’m back with my second card as the guest designer for May on Just Us Girls and today’s new challenge is to make a shaped card – not something I would usually do!
Now I haven’t done very well with my ambition to make a few Christmas cards every month, so decided this was a great opportunity to make a tree shaped card, helped by the ‘botanical’ theme over at CASology.
I used the Sweet Poppy ‘holly tree’ die to cut down a card blank, keeping the fold along the left hand side. That did mean that I didn’t have the detail on that side of the die, so I recut it from another piece of card to stick to the card front. I also trimmed the base so that it was level, as it wuoldn’t stand firmly with the tree pot in place.
I blended a little ‘iced spruce’ Distress Oxide down the side of the topper and then stamped the fern from Julie Hickey’s ‘more for the girls’ set on top of the blending, again in the ‘iced spruce’.
I added the sentiment in the centre of the tree, then glued the topper onto the card front so that the die cut lined up exactly, before trimming off the tree base.
Do hop over to the Just Us Girls page to see what the other design team members have produced, and then come and join in the fun! The challenge is open until midnight (UK time) on Thursday 12 May.
