Hello there. I needed to make a card for friends who are getting married next month, and thought Julie Hickey’s ‘fresh florals’ would work well paired with the fern stencil. I’ve taken inspiration for the design from three current challenges, using stencilling & heat embossing from Just Add Ink‘s ‘choose two’, the colours from The Paper Players, and the right diagonal of gold, flowers and die cut from TicTacToe

I started by stencilling the small fern from the ‘fern foliage’ set onto a square of white card using ‘mowed lawn’ Distress Oxide (the nearest I’ve got to SU’s ‘granny apple green’). I picked up a great trick from Hazel Eaton for getting the depth onto the ferns – use the aperture stencil first to lay down the background, then put the infill stencil back into it and brush the ink through that too. It gives a great effect.

I then stamped several of the ‘fresh florals’ and heat embossed them with WOW’s superfine pale gold powder. I coloured the larger ones using SU’s ‘fresh freesia’ & a waterbrush – I only have SU Write markers, not inkpads, but discovered that I could scribble ink from the pen onto my silicone mat and then pick it up with the waterbrush for a more delicate effect than directly colouring. I used ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxide for the large flower centres, the edges of the medium ones, and the whole of the little ones, then attached them to the card front with foam pads.

I used one of Julie’s ‘everyday sentiments’ to finish, also stamped in the ‘chipped sapphire’.

Thanks for dropping in. Hope you like this – I’ll be back tomorrow with another offering!
Such a pretty color palette!
