rainbow in a cloud

Hello crafty friends. Today’s card is for the speed challenge over at As You See It – make a card in under 10 minutes, with the theme of ‘staying dry’. I thought this great Maya Angelou quote from Claritystamp fitted the bill, and I remembered I’d got the free ‘sunshine and rainbow’ paper from Stampin’ Up! in their last Saleabration event – a perfect pairing!

Now as it’s a 10 minute challenge, I haven’t taken photos as I went along, but here’s a quick shot of everything I got together to start with (which is not my usual way of working, to be honest – my cards often ‘evolve’ as I go along!)

So, having started the stopwatch on my phone, I set off. I trimmed the rainbow paper down and attached it to an A6 card blank. I then stamped the quote in black Archival onto a piece of smooth white card and coloured in the letters, rotating through each of the three colours I’d picked to match the paper. I then cut the quote out with one of Clarity’s nested circle dies and attached it to the card front with foam pads.

I added a couple of co-ordinating heart Glossies as a final touch to finish it. Here’s the finished card.

So there it is. I hope the team at As You See It think it fits their theme! And I guess you also want to know how long it took me? I stopped the clock after I added the two Glossies at….. just under 8.5 minutes. I was very happy with that.

  1. This is a perfect card for the theme, Deborah! To stay dry you emerge when the rainbow does, right? Such a colourful and well designed card! I love how the lettering matches the rainbows, and what a great sentiment! Thanks for getting your adrenaline pumping with As You See It Challenges!

  2. I love that pretty sentiment too Deborah – the font is perfect to pick up some of the paper colours to tie the two together. This card is perfect for a speed challenge – simple yet well thought out and so effective. And a reminder that you won’t stay dry if you emerge before the rainbow too! Thanks for playing our speed challenge over at As You See It!
