Welcome to my crafty blog, and an Easter egg with a bit of a difference. I’ve had Claritystamp’s ‘chicks and eggs’ set for a little while and felt it really ought to come out of it’s packet! It’s ideal for this week’s challenge theme of ‘egg’ over at Just Us Girls – I also picked up the colours, egg and ‘Easter blessings’ sentiment in the inspiration photo at The Card Concept

I started wiht a square of wite card and stamped the floral egg from the set in ‘watering can’ Archival ink. I then masked it off using the pre-cut mask that comes with the stamps and created a panel behind it with a couple of strips of low tack tape. I brushed ‘salvaged patina’ Distress Oxide across the panel before repeat stamping the shrub from the ‘garden miniatures’ set across it in ‘mowed lawn’ (I did this mainly in second generation to start with, then added a few in first generation to give a bit of depth).

I then coloured in the floral pattern on the egg using Pergaliner pencils, and added some shading around the base with a light grey pencil so it looks less flat.

Two of the words from the ‘essential sentiments’ set in the ‘watering can’ grey finished it off perfectly, before I attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

I’m rather taken with this egg – especially as it’s calorie free! This little scene makes me think of the egg hunts we have at church for the kids on Easter Day, hiding cardboard eggs in the church garden for them to find and then exchange for chocolate ones – happy days!
Wow! Love your coloring on that sweet floral egg! Thanks for playing along at the Card Concept!

I love the grassy background you made to rest the fancy egg in, Deborah. Thanks for sharing your card with us at Just Us Girls.
