Welcome to my crafty bloig, and another card using the ‘happy birthday’ stencil and star dies from Julie Hickey Designs. I’ve used the colours and sketch from CAS Colours and Sketches for this one – it’s such a pretty palette, although mine is a bit more muted than the challeneg colours as I don’t have the SU shades, but hopefully it will be OK.

So I started with a piece of smooth white card and the stencil, then brushed Distress Oxides in ‘picked raspberry’, ‘evergreen bough’ & ‘squeezed lemonade’ through it. I managed to get the colours more randomly distributed this time – I normally seem to end up with them in diagonal stripes. I ran a black Sharpie around the edge of the card and mounted it onto a 5×7 card blank.

I die cut the large star in white card and stamped the little star words from the ‘more for the boys’ set in the centre. I cut the two star frames in the set and blended one with the ‘picked raspberry’ and the other with ‘evergreen bough’ before gluing them onto the large one. I then glued the whole piece onto the card front.

I blended more of the green ink onto a banner die cut, then stamped one of the ‘stitched banners & sentiments’ set onto it and popped it on foam pads to sit across the star.

Thanks for dropping in. I’ve had a great day with friends – we’ve been booking the first part of a major overseas trip next year! I haven’t been abroad for over 3 years now so life’s starting to feel very exciting!
Beautiful! Can tell a lot of work went into this one!

I love the effect of that stencilling Deborah and the star makes a great centrepiece. Looking forward to hearing more about those travel plans – how exciting! Thanks for playing with us over at CAS Colours & Sketches this week!
