spring garden

Welcome to my crafty blog and another of the new stamps from Julie Hickey Designs – the ‘garden blooms’. I thought of these when I saw the inspiration photo and colours from The Card Concept (especially the pattern on the wellies), and teamed that with the sketch from Fusion (which I rotated) and the theme from Less is More (thanks to the metallic platinum embossing powder and the sparkly Glossies).

I went for a one layer card and started by masking off a panel with low tack tape, which I lightly blended with ‘broken china’ & ‘rustic wilderness’ Distress Oxides. I then stamped the ‘garden blooms’ with WOW’s clear ink and heat embossed it using ‘metallic platinum’.

I used a waterbrush and piece of kitchen towel to lift the background ink from the flowers, so that I could then recolour them with Distress Oxides & the waterbrush. I used ‘candied apple’ for the flowers, ‘rustic wilderness’ for the leaves & stems, and ‘pumice stone’ for the other leaves.

I finished by stamping the sentiment and heat embossing it with the ‘metallic platinum’, and scattered a few gold Glossies.

Here’s an angled close-up so you can see the ‘bling’ on the flowers!

  1. This is such an awesome simple layout, but it really showcases your florals so beautifully. Your art is lovely, and I thank you for taking the time to share it with us at The Card Concept. I hope you’ll visit again soon. I look forward to seeing more of your wonderful creativity.
