beauty’s glance

Hello there. I’m back with a second post today, this time using one of the flower stamps from Claritystamp’s February Craft Club. I had a very productive time today, as my sister, my crafty buddy and I had our monthly online ‘Crafternoon’, playing with our Craft Club goodies. I’ve used the sketch from CAS Colours and Sketches for the layout, and the challenge from Just Add Ink to ‘just add masking’.

I started by stamping the flower onto a square of white card, then stamped it onto an all-over sticky note to cut out a mask. (I must admit, this was seriously fiddly and I had second thoughts about it when I was partway through, but persevered!) I covered the flower with the mask, then used the two parts of Clarity’s hills mask to create the curved line across the card and sponged ‘rustic wilderness’ Distress Oxide across it.

I then shaded the flower and leaves using Pergaliner pencils, before replacing the mask so that I could brush a little ‘broken china’ Distress Oxide around the image. I also used a torn piece of copy paper across the stem to add ‘rustic wilderness’ with a sponge to ground the flower.

It took me a littel while to decide on a sentiment and then I remembered the ‘poetry frame’ stamps, one of which has this lovely verse from WH Davies. I thought it fitted the image perfectly.

I do enjoy the ‘Crafternoons’ with my sister and friend – it’s always fascinating to see the different cards we each create when using the same stamps, etc. That’s the beauty of creativity, I guess.
