wonderful mum

Welcome to my crafty blog and another card for Mother’s Day – I’m on a bit of a roll now! I did an online class at the weekend with Hazel Eaton using the ‘fern foliage’ die set and co-ordinating stamps that she designed for Julie Hickey, and today’s card uses that set again (I really love it!). I based it on the challenge card over at Time Out, where the team want us to CASE (copy and selectively edit) a card made by Michele, and teamed it up with the fab colour combination from Color Hues

I started with a piece of watercolour card and blended ‘picked raspberry’ Distress Oxide onto it, then dragged the ink pad across the card for some darker shading. I dried it and die cut several of the medium ferns from the die set, then stamped the medley of words from the ‘more for the girls’ stamp set across them using ‘chipped sapphire’. This is such a great idea from Hazel – it really gives the ferns a bit more interest and dimension.

I cut a square of navy card and attached it to a 6×6 card blank, then glued three of the ferns onto it in a spray (I trimmed the bottom leaves off a couple of them to fit better). I die cut a circle of white card, blended the ‘picked raspberry’ around the edge and stamped the sentiments on it (from the ‘all about the girls’ set) before attaching it over the ferns using foam pads.

I glued the remaining fern to sit across the circle, and added a couple of the smallest ferns that I’d cut in navy card. A heart shaped Glossie gave it the final touch.

I do love these colours together – they’re right in my favourite zone! I can see I’m going to be playing with these dies a lot more as well.
