birthday!

Welcome to my crafty blog and a clean and simple birthday card. I haven’t used the ‘birthday dangles’ set from Claritystamp for some time, so thought it deserved an outing! It’s such a great image that it really stands on it’s own without a lot of other embellishment. I thought it would work perfectly for the current Less Is More, where they’re celebrating their 11th birthday. I’ve also incorporated the elements from the right hand column on TicTacToe‘s grid – scoring, flowers & CAS (although I’ve now realised that it also works for the top row as well!).

I started with a square of white card and stamped the main birthday image in black Archival ink. I used my stamping platform for this so that I could then go over it again with Wow’s clear ink and heat emboss it with clear powder. I added the three small flowers using the stamps from Clarity’s large & small ‘butterfly wreath’ sets, and again heat embossed them with clear powder.

I used Clarity’s Pergacolour pens in three shades of pink to colour the image – I wanted to get a bit of an ombre effect across the word, although I’m not sure that really shows up in the photo (the three pinks show up more on the balloons).

I then used my scoring board to add score lines above the ‘B’ and running down from the ‘y’ for a little extra dimension.

All I then needed to do was attach the whole piece to a 6×6 card blank and it was finished.

This would look great in any colour – I may make some more! Less is More have also got a call out for new design team members, and I’m throwing my hat into the ring with this card (one of the party ones from this image, of course!)

  1. I absolutely adore that stamp and I’m so happy you chose to bring it out for this card creation! Well done with your pink ombre; this is just a fab CAS birthday card, Deborah! Thanks so much for joining us this week at the Tic Tac Toe Challenge!
