Hello crafty friends. Bit of a change today – I need to make some more wedding cards, so thought it best to make a start. I’ve used this ‘dove heart’ stencil from Claritystamp quite a few times – it’s a perfect image for wedding, anniversary or engagement cards. I’ve taken the colours from the photo over at Just Us Girls – I don’t have any snowmen, but love the colour scheme and picked up the heart motif as well.

I started by fixing the stencil to a 7×7 piece of stencil card and ran it through my Gemini embosser. I’d turned the card over so that the background of the stencil was debossed and the doves stood out. I then refixed the stencil in place on the front and blended ‘speckled egg’ Distress Oxide into the background, which gave it more depth.

I trimmed the stencil card down to fit a 5×7 card blank. I blended the ‘speckled egg’ around the edge of the card blank before attaching the topper – this was easier than trying to match cardstock to cut a mat for it. I stamped the sentiments at the lower part of the heart using ‘watering can’ Archival ink.

As a final touch, I die cut a little heart in red card and glued that between the two doves.

This is nice & easy to make – just needed to ensure the stencil was properly aligned before I started inking through it. Normally with a stencil you can sit it in the debossed part, but I’d reversed this one so needed a bit of extra care to make sure it was sat on top of the image.
Pretty!
